Research Interests

My current research focus is on exploring ways to exploit the brain’s neuroplastic potential for recovery of function following brain damage.  Recent funding from the NIH Veteran’s Affairs Rehabilitation Research Service has supported investigations of errorless learning in aphasia rehabilitation and use-dependent learning in the form of Constraint Induced Language Therapy.  My current NIH-NINDS funded project is in collaboration with investigators at UT Medical School in Houston and involves MEG imaging of individuals with aphasia before and after CILT to evaluate changes in neural activity as a result of therapy.
