Ms. Melissa Bruce is the Clinic Director of the University Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, the training facility of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is an ASHA Fellow, Board Recognized Specialist and Mentor in Fluency Disorders and Charter Member of the international Lidcombe Program Trainers Consortium. Prior to joining the COMD Department, she served as Clinic Director at the University of Vermont for 11 years. She has served as Project Director for training and service delivery grants in the areas of Early Childhood Intervention and Post-Stroke Group Treatment. Ms. Bruce oversees the day-to-day operations, manages the budget of the clinic, and is responsible for service delivery program development. In addition, she provides services and supervision in fluency disorders and teaches the graduate course in fluency disorders.

Fluency Disorders (COMD 7321)
Research into chronic stuttering and the chronic stutterer; evaluation and treatment of stuttering in its advanced forms.

Research Interests
Interests include oral personal narratives of children with language disorders from a multicultural perspective.
Current Research Project
Investigation of the discourse genres produced by children with language disorders. Comparison of fictional and factual narratives produced by children with language disorders.
