Full Time Graduate Curriculum

Students in computer labAll graduate students begin their program in the fall semester.

Students may transfer up to 6 graduate hours from other graduate programs in speech-language pathology. Courses must be approved as equivalent by the instructor of record prior to beginning the program.

  1. Full time graduate students cannot graduate any earlier than the summer semester of their second year (except in the case of transferred credit from another program in speech language pathology).
  2. The full-time graduate program in speech language pathology requires continuous enrollment for six consecutive semesters.  Petitions for leaves of absence must be formally filed with your graduate advisor and are considered on a case-by-case basis.
  3. The graduate curriculum consists of 9 required content courses and one elective course for total of 30 hours and 6 clinic courses for 18 hours.
  4. Full time graduate students will complete clinic assignments in all six semesters of enrollment.
  5. The final 2 semesters will require full-time externship placements or equivalent (i.e., 40 hour/week workload).
  6. In addition to coursework and clinic assignments, graduate students must complete a comprehensive exam or a master’s thesis.

Part Time Graduate Curriculum

  1. Students who begin part-time cannot graduate earlier than the spring semester of their third year.
  2. Once a student has declared part-time status, that status cannot be changed back to full time at any point for the remainder of the program.
  3. The part-time graduate program in speech language pathology requires continuous enrollment for eight consecutive semesters.  Petitions for leaves of absence must be formally filed with your graduate advisor and are considered on a case-by-case basis.
  4. Part-time students will complete clinic assignments in all 8 semesters of enrollment.
  5. The final 2 semesters will require full-time externship placements or equivalent (i.e., 40 hour/week workload).
